New Year’s Eve with the Fox-spirits

On New Year’s Eve, the foxes gather at the Inari Shrine to pay their respects to the harvest god. The god’s fox-spirits or kitsune, serve as his messengers. The foxes have set kitsunebi or “fox-fires,” which are said to predict the rice harvest.
